• How do I prepare for a bone density test?

I am going to be taking a bone density test and want to prepare. Is it required to abstain from liquids for 24 hours prior to testing?

You can eat and drink normally before the scan. Avoid taking calcium supplements for 24 hours prior to the scan. Wear comfortable, loosefitting clothing that does not contain metal. Remove any jewelry or metal objects before the scan.

No, but don't consume calcium supplements for 24 hours prior to your test.

There is no preparation required for a bone density test, which is like having an X-ray.
Good luck!
