• How do you soothe a sore throat?

I have a sore throat so I'm taking some aspirin for the pain, but how do you soothe the pain that goes with swallowing? Aspirin is only doing so much.

Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid alcoholic beverages, those with caffeine, and acidic drinks/foods. Water salt water gargles feel good for a lot of patients. There are topical sprays/lozenges that may be helpful. Avoid overusing your voice as this may exacerbate the situation. Other over-the-counter pain medications can be considered, but discuss what is safe and appropriate given your specific medical health.

Anesthetic lozenges. Avoidance of acidic, spicy foods. No mouthwashes. No alcohol. No smoking. Gargle with tilted baking soda, 1/2 tsp in 8oz of lukewarm water. See PCP or ENT to check if Abc is indicated.

A teaspoon of honey is a good bet!

Gargle with aspirin in water and use some throat lozenges. They will help but see your doctor if it does not get better
