My 13-year-old daughter has asthma and her doctor has given her Albuterol to treat it. Is this an effective medicine for asthma?
Albuterol is very effective if used correctly. Do not over use it it will make it less effective. If she is using an inhaler I cant stress enough how much better a spacer used with the inhaler makes. It gives her time so squirt the inhaler and take a good 10 seconds to take a deep breath. It is important to hold the breath for at least 3-5 seconds and wait a minute before the second squirt. Albuterol is a respiratory therapists first defense for reactive airways. Good luck in using it.
