Hello,

Psychotherapy is highly affective. There are several factors that will influence treatment which include a good relationship with your therapist, asking questions about approaches to be used, and putting in the work to change. One session will not fix all the issues, but will require a commitment to change.

Psychotherapy is very effective in treating mental illness. With consistent support and active participation, the rate in which one can manage their symptoms is very high.

It depends on the type of mental illness (acute or chronic, the severity of symptoms and age of onset). Sometimes patients need more care to help manage and reduce the symptoms by also seeing a psychiatrist that can offer medications to manage more challenging symptoms that therapy alone is unable to address such as perceptual disturbances (auditory / visual hallucinations, psychosis, paranoia).
