• How long does it take for lidcaine to wear off?

I needed anesthesia for my extraction today, and that area is still numb in my mount. It's been two hours already. How long does lidocaine usually last?

Although there are individual variations, a local injection of lidocaine generally lasts up to approximately 4 hours. However, if the lidocaine was mixed with another anesthetic, or a vasoconstrictor such as epinephrine, the duration of the numbness can be significantly prolonged

If epinephrine was added it might take several more hours!

An hour. 90 minutes if it had epinephrine mixed in.

I assume this was a tooth extraction? I do not know if an upper or lower tooth was extracted. Most dentists use 1%-2% Lidocaine and typically the time to wear off is 2-6 hours. If you experience longer than 4-6 hours, you should contact your provider to ascertain what medication was used and if any follow-up appointment is needed to address the continuing effect of
the anesthetic.

3-6 hours is normal.
