• How long would I be sedated for a colonoscopy?

I chose to be sedated during my colonoscopy. My doctor wanted me to do it without the sedation, but I feel uncomfortable with the whole procedure already, so I'd rather be sedated. How long would I sedated for?

Time of endoscopy depends upon factors like surgeon timing and your condition. Could be 30 min to 1 hour.

You can be deeply sedated throughout the colonoscopy (which can take 15-45 minutes) and wake up 10-15 minutes after it is completed.

For as long as the procedure takes.

It depends on the medications used for sedation. Often it is not much longer than the procedure or groggy but feeling of a mild hangover for an hour or so.
