No more than 4 mg.

Ideally. 0.4 to 1mg daily is adequate. Under certain conditions, one may require 4mg daily. So not to exceed 1 mg generally and not to exceed 4mg under certain conditions.

Hi, for a normal pregnancy 400 micrograms a day is recommended. If you have a history of a baby with a spinal/ neural tube defect or heart defect, you should take 4 gram. So typically I have not given more than 4 grams a day.

It is best not to take more than the 600 mcg daily. There is not any clear issues with taking more but there are not any advantages either.
