Not very painful. It's after the surgery you feel the cuts in your muscle and skin.

Laparoscopic approach is usually less painful than traditional surgery.

Pain is very subjective and degree of pain after surgery will depend on multiple variables including type of surgery (open procedure versus laparoscopic) and your pain tolerance. It is best to talk to a surgeon who is performing the surgery to get a better sense of how extensive the surgery will be as well as what to be expected after surgery.

If the procedure is done laparoscopically the pain is significantly reduced.

I generally tell patients that they will need prescription pain medication for about 5-10 days and be uncomfortable for 4-6 weeks. If surgery can be done with a minimally invasive technique, the pain is typically less.
