Most authorities recommend sleeping on your side and not always on the same side. Make sure you have good support for your head and neck.

Posture is something that requires active care.

Sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees or on your back are the best ways to sleep to improve posture because they help support that natural curves of your spine.

Always be comfortable when sleeping. I advise our patients to use a firm mattress with a soft, foam support top. Sleep on your side is best, with a pillow between your knees, or sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees.

This answer varies depending on how you respond to these questions:

1) How old is your mattress?
2) Do you have a box spring
3) What type of pillow do you use, age, how many?
4) Have you had whiplash?

If your bed is old, it will have a major effect on posture. The type and number of pillows also will have an effect. Sleeping on your back or fetal position can help. Do NOT sleep on your stomach.

A pillow/support between your knees is great for preventing Sacroiliac joint issues in women. Back to side with knee support.

Side or back.

For most people this would mean sleeping on your back with a pillow that will keep your spine neutral (not too high, not too low)
