• How to manage excess gas?

I have had IBS since childhood I am now 65 years old. I had my gall bladder out at the age of 19. Constipation has always been a bad trouble having BMs maybe once in 3-4 weeks. I have been prescribed many different meds for this, Miralax has been a salvation but still not having BMs daily maybe once a week with very small ones when I urinate. I have changed my diet eating lot of fruits and vegetable. I have lost 35 lbs in the last 3 months. Problem now is that I have very bad smelling gas often and it is embarrassing to go out. Taking lot of BeanO or other gas meds does seem to help much. What do you suggest?

There are medications such as Levsin available these days. Ask your doctor to prescribe it for you.

The excessive gas is the result of the change in diet that you describe. If you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables then then your colon will produce a lot of gas. Humans cannot process a large amounts of carbohydrates. There is no way to control this other than reducing carbohydrates in the diet, mainly by reducing the fruits and vegetables.
