• How would I know if I have a colon polyp?

Colon cancer runs in my family and during my mother's colonoscopy, the doctor found several polyps. None of them were cancerous. She had no idea she had any polyps because she didn't have any symptoms. How would I know if I have a colon polyp?

You won't usually. That is why you need a colonoscopy done for screening polyps starting at a certain age (45 or 50 years, unless there is a family history).

The only way to diagnose polyps is colonoscopy.
