• I have an infected toenail. Should it be removed?

I am a diabetic and recently noticed that one of my toe nails has been infected. It seems like a fungal infection. How can it the same be removed? Are there any topical medicines that can treat it?

Yes, removal is needed. Partial or total, depending on how much of the nail is ingrown and how much of toe is affected.

I would recommend seeing a podiatrist because it can either be a fungal or bacterial infection. Depending on what type of infection it is, there are both topical and oral options.
