I'm 37 years old and my recent physical shows that I have a heart murmur. Is a heart murmur caused by heart disease?

Most murmurs are benign however talk to your doctor to see if a referral to a cardiologist is warranted. An echocardiogram can help sort that out.
Heart murmur can be benign in younger ages in certain conditions, but also can be a result of abnormality in the heart valves. Best to check the heart with echo-cardiogram "heart ultrasound"
