Is lung volume reduction surgery safe?
My mom was diagnosed with emphysema, and she has a severe case. Her doctors want her to go through with this surgery, but it just seems very risky because the hospital does not do this surgery routinely. Is lung volume reduction surgery actually safe?

You might want to consider evaluation for endobronchial valve placement prior to proceeding with surgery. It is less invasive
