• Is nutmeg tea safe?

I occasionally use nutmeg tea (1-1.5tsp) for a sedative (makes me fall asleep easily) and has euphoric effects.

I would like to know if this is a safe practice?

A small pinch of nutmeg may be helpful, but teaspoons could prove dangerous. I have attached two links about nutmeg. The first one promotes the use of nutmeg but just a pinch. The second is a report of studies on the dangers of large amounts of nutmeg (1 - 3 teaspoons). Read them and discuss them with your parents and doctor.

If you are referring to a powdered version, my suggestion is to use no more than 1/2 tsp (and definitely less than 1 tsp) as myristicin is an incredibly potent and dangerous compound when taken in large amounts. If you are using the essential oil to make the tea, stop immediately as that is a toxic.
