Is sickle cell anemia an inherited disease?
My uncle has sickle cell disease, but he was immediately diagnosed with it once he was born. Treatment is helping him, but I know that he'll never be cured of it. Is sickle cell anemia an inherited disease?

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disease. It is inherited at birth from your mother and father.
Sickle cell is an autosomal recessive disease, i.e., it is a genetic disorder affecting both sexes.
