• Is the zika virus infectious?

Is the Zika virus infection an airborne infection or does it only spread due to a mosquito bite? And also, if I'm planning to be pregnant this year, should I stay away from the Caribbean?

Zika is spread from person to person through mosquito bites and sexual exposure. It is spread from mother to child in- utero. If you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant avoid traveling to any country where Zika virus is being transmitted.

Zika virus is spread through mosquito bites and is sexually transmitted through semen. Yes, you and your partner need to stay away from any Zika affected areas if you are planning to get pregnant.

Good luck!

Simple answer, yes. Your significant other can sexually transmit from 6 months after exposure. If you aren't in a zika-infected area, you have to use DEET solution.
