• Is there any medication for colic?

If my child has colic, what should I do for him? Are there any medications for it, or home remedies? My mom told me to try gripe water for my child but I've never heard of it.

This is best addressed by a pediatric gastroenterologist or pediatrician. An old home remedy is to add karo syrup to the milk in a bottle, but I cannot attest to any published evidence on that remedy or others.

Gripe water or mylicon can help if gas is causing the stomach pain. Swaddling sometimes helps. A few of the babies with colic benefit from a hypoallergic formula. Make sure the baby has been thoroughly checked before you assume colic. Most babies seem to outgrow colic by 4 months of age.
