• My husband has pain in between his hip and thighs. The doctor says its an inflammation. What should we do?

My husband has been experiencing pain in between his hips and thighs for the past 6 months. The doctor says that this is because of inflammation, but hasn't given us any treatments to help it go down. Is there a remedy for this? What should we do?

For inflammation between the hip and thigh, try rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE). Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications may help. Gentle stretching and physical therapy can improve mobility. If pain persists, consult a specialist for a tailored treatment plan, including possible injections or alternative therapies. Always follow medical advice.

I think swimming will be the best exercise for your husband, using some heat also helps. And gentle stretching.

Hello,
If the pain is experienced Alton the groin area it could be referred pain from the hip. If it is along his thigh it could be from the hip, back, or muscular in nature. I’d advise you to either see a skilled physical therapist or and orthopedic doctor. The orthopedic would most likely refer you to a physical therapist or give you something for the inflammation based on his medical history.

Seeing a Physical Therapist is one of the best choices you can make when considering treatment for a musculoskeletal issue. I would consult with a PT ASAP.

It is very difficult to determine a course of treatment without performing an evaluation. There are many different possible options when it comes to the musculoskeletal system. I would highly recommend requesting a physical therapy evaluation.

Ice can be very helpful for inflammation, but considering it has been 6 months, it would be alright to use heat also. Did the doctor mention any over-the-counter anti-inflammatories? If not, you may want to ask your doctor. If his pain does not improve, ask your doctor if he or she thinks P.T. would be beneficial as weakness and loss of flexibility can contribute to pain.
