• Regarding GERD and prilosec?

Hi, I believe I have GERD. I'm having trouble breathing and during flare-ups, I might sweat or have a tiny little bit of arm pain. I also experience night sweats if this helps any. Because of my issues, I heard of Prilosec OTC. So I got some and read the back of it and it says not to take it if you have heartburn with sweating/lightheadedness/dizziness/trouble breathing or even arm pain. I suffer pretty much from all of it but was hoping Prilosec can offer some relief. Would I still be safe to take this given I do experience those things?

You are young to be experiencing chest pain , not unless you have a strong family history of heart disease. If you deal with a tremendous amount of stress on a day to day basis you can develop heart burn, also eating spicy foods, eating and not waiting at least 23hrs before lying down. If all of these a fore mention relate to you, see your primary doctor to be tested for H pylori stool test and to be started on PPI medication for at least 6 weeks. If your symptoms do not resolve within the 6 weeks an upper endoscopy will be needed to see what is present and causing your symptoms

Yes, it is safe to try Prilosec or any PPI even if those other symptoms are present.

You’ve gotta visit your physician to rule out other more serious conditions before self treating. Cardiac disease and esophageal dyskinesia are likely.
