It is important to follow your surgeons post-op instructions. Usually this requires gentle cleaning daily with a mild facial cleanser. You may also have a dressing or tape to change. For most, stitches are removed no later than 7 days. Many surgeons will prescribe a silicone scar gel or bandage for long term healing. This will give the best healing and least visible scar. Please discuss this with your surgeon.

It would depend on how the scar was corrected. Sometimes the patient needs to return in a few days for suture removal and other times just an ointment is recommended.

Many surgeons will provide you with their instructions in care and this may include scar treatment creams or gels.

I have my patients use either Scar Guard or Mederma starting 2-4 days after the sutures are out, as well as you sunblock instead of sunscreen. I have them use that regimen for at least 6 months

Thank you for your inquiry! Following a facial plastic surgery procedure, I recommend avoiding direct sunlight to avoid hyperpigmentation and applying a scar gel that is formulated to significantly improve scar texture, color and overall appearance. Additionally, I recommend laser treatments such as PicoSure or Icon 1540, to break down any remaining scar tissue and encourage cell turnover for healthy tissue growth. Good luck and once again, thank you for your inquiry!

The aftercare will totally be determined by the type of treatment that you have. Sutures are different than lasers, injections, topical cream, and massage. So, the type of treatment determines how the care will be done.
