• Treatment for hemorrhoids?

My treatment has consisted of, Preperation H, Tux, and warm bathes with Epsom salts. Is there another method that I am unaware of? It's miserable ( pain in the rump).

Dr. Wayne Swanson, P.h.D. My experience medically is at best limited.

if you have anal pain with bowel movements then you most likely have an anal fissure. Have a colorectal surgeon do a focused anal exam. You may have to introduce stool softeners and fiber supplements. If this is a chronic affliction you may require an outpatient surgery which is called a sphincterotomy.

There are other treatments for hemorrhoids but these are somewhat limited because you take blood thinners. The options increase if you can stop blood thinners for a couple of weeks or more. I’d not, there are still a couple of options available. You may benefit from a consultation with a colon and rectal specialist. Also as a bit of information. Internal hemorrhoids cause PAINLESS bleeding. If you have pain there may be a secondary issue such as anal fissure. Hope this is helpful.
