• What are the best ways to prevent UTIs in children?

My 12-year-old daughter has gotten her first UTI and was given antibiotics to treat it. What are the best ways to prevent UTIs in children?

  • Urologist (Pediatric)

In girls: Showers rather than taking baths. Wear cotton underwear. Avoid & treat constipation. Urinate at least 3 - 4 times/day. Pull panties down to ankles & separate thighs with urination to prevent vaginal trapping of urine.
