There is roughly a 5% chance of any implant failing within the 1st year...otherwise, there is very little side effect and is usually less painful than a routine dental extraction.

The success rate of implants, the adhesion of an alien body to our mouth is incredible-over 90%. You can be tested for allergy to the materials used as extra precaution, but besides that it is not side-effected. The tissue under the implant gets infection sometimes. Reasons are too many to specify, but that is more a potential situation than side-effect. A good practitioner shall have no troubles into puttin it in.

Dental implants are the most effective way to replace a tooth. There is really nothing that comes close to this solution. The only side effect is a little soreness after the procedure when the dental implant is placed. If done properly and maintained properly a dental implant can be a tooth replacement for a lifetime.
