• What are the symptoms of conjunctivitis?

My girlfriend's eye was red and swollen. Last night we were by a campfire, so she thinks it's just irritation from the smoke. But couldn't this also be conjunctivitis? It's still red and swollen and it's been almost 24 hours.

It could be either, best way to know for sure is to get it checked out by an eye doctor just to be safe.

Chemical conjunctivitis is a possibility.

This sounds like a form of conjunctivitis not contagious Likely a chemical conjunctivitis from the toxic fumes of the fire. Cold compresses and non preserved tears will help She May need asteroid antibiotic drop also

Yes, it is likely to be smoke irritation leading to conjunctivitis.

Probably not related to campfire smole a week ago. Likey viral conjuvtivitis or dry eye or allergy. I would seek a professional consultation if it persists.
