What causes children to have dry feet?

My toddler son's feet seem dry. What could cause a child's feet to dry out? I've tried changing the type of socks he wears, but it's not working.

Try lubriderm or aveeno lotion and short bath. Do not soak feet a long time in bath. I see more complaints of sweaty feet than dry feet.
