• What causes green vomit?

My 7 year old boy started feeling sick after dinner tonight, and was vomiting by his bedtime. But, I noticed that his vomit was green. What causes green vomit?

Green vomit has bile it. This is generated from the gall bladder and normal part the digestive process. (Or he ate something green.)

Green vomit is often due to coloring in foods the child has eaten. Green can also mean he is vomiting up bile. Green is sometimes seen with flu and migraines.

Had he eaten something green? Bile is also green, so bile in the vomit can make it green.

It can be caused by bile in the stomach secretions. This usually means he has emptied the food out of his stomach from all the emesis. However, obstruction can cause green emesis and would need immediate attention.
