• What causes pediatric kidney stones?

My cousin is 12 years old and he actually had kidney stones. I always thought that only adults get this. What causes them to develop in children?

No age is immune to kidney stones though it is not common in children. Work up should be done to check any treatable cause.

There is usually and inherited enyzme deficiency that makes you form the stones. It runs in families and with high temperatures mild dehydration and certain goods it is easier to form the stones. Even babies can have kidney stones.
