Most family physicians will treat genital herpes or herpes simplex virus. It can usually be suppressed with oral medication taken at the time of outbreaks, or if you have them often, a daily treatment.

No need to see a specialist such as infectious disease MD. You can see your PCP or use urgent Care center. Consider treating any partners & use barrier protection during relations even if no obvious outbreaks as this can be chronically carried and spread even between outbreaks.
