I recently came across the latest technology in pathology called geneXpert test which is helpful in detecting TB. What exactly is this test and how does it test the disease in a person?

TB GeneXpert test is a rapid test that can simultaneously identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and resistance to rifampin from sputum. This test detects the DNA in TB bacteria. Thank you.
It is a nucleic acid (DNA) amplification test to detect TB from a sputum specimen. It also tests for resistance to Rifampicin, an antibiotic used to treat TB.
