• What is Glue ear?

My 6-year-old daughter has issues hearing things in her left ear. Her pediatrician says that she has glue ear, but she doesn't need any treatment for it at all. What is glue ear?

A glue ear should be seen by a otorhinolaryngology. Sometimes surgery might be needed.

Glue ear is when there is thick fluid like glue behind the middle ear. If this is affecting the hearing she needs to be referred to ENT.

Glue ear refers to ear fluid that is very thick, and is less likely to resolve on its own. If the fluid has been present for sometime or there is a speech and language delay or school issues, something needs to be done about it. You should definitely visit your ENT to evaluate.
