• What is the best way to treat a sports injury?

I injured my knee while playing soccer. It's just a sprain and the doctor said it will heal on its own. But is there anything I can do at home that'll make it heal fast?

Sprains typically take 4-6 weeks to heal. The best treatment to accelerate recovery time is rest, ice, NSAIDs, and appropriately directed therapy. Each sports injury or sprain should be treated on an individualized basis.

It depends on exactly what ligament in the knee is sprained. I would recommend exercises that help in strengthening your quadriceps and gluteal muscles amongst other exercises that help with knee stability. You would be best served to work with a physical therapist to help augment your recovery.

Rest, ice, elevate, over-the-counter Tylenol alternating with ibuprofen. Gentle range of motion. Should not return to play until full motion without pain and good strength.

There are conservative treatments and more aggressive, such as regenerative injections. Conservative treatments include: Epsome salt bath, topical natural creams (Traumeel, Real time), Laser treatments, PEMF, Cryo herapy (help to increase the blood flow), Physical Therapy. Regenerative injections: Prolotherapy, PRP, Stem Sells.
