THE FIRST THING TO DO IS BE SURE THE PATIENT IS BREATHING AND HAS A PULSE. BASIC LIFE SAVING COURSE IS HELPFUL. BUT TAKING A FULL STRENGTH ASPIRIN, UNLESS CONTRAINDICATED, IS FIRST, AND THEN ANY MEDICATIONS YOU MAY TAKE FOR BLOOD PRESSURE TO KEEP BP AT A GOOD RANGE. THEN IF YOU ARE TRULLY HAVING CHEST PAIN, GO TO AN ER OR CALL 911

Oxygen and ASA

First aid treatment for heart attack is call 911 or go immediately to your closest emergency department. EMS personnel may administer aspirin and nitroglycerin in appropriate conditions, but most importantly transport you to a cardiac receiving hospital.

Take an aspirin, dial 911 and get to an emergency room ASAP. Don't even think about anything that would delay you getting to a hospital. And there are a number of reasons why you should not drive yourself. Call 911 and get to the ER by ambulance. And please don't decline the ambulance because your pain is gone or has improved when the ambulance gets to you. You need to be evaluated by a physician if you are having chest pain.

Call 911. Have the patient sit down.  Loosen restrictive clothing. If have, give four baby aspirin (81mg x 4 = 324mg) -OR- an aspirin (325mg). Make sure you or someone else has called 911. If the person has medication to take when having chest pain, you may help open the little bottle and put one of the even smaller pills into their hand, so they do not wind up dropping the pills while fumbling with them.
