What's focal therapy for prostate cancer?

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but because it's localized his doctor wants to try focal therapy with HIFU. What is this therapy?

High-intensity focused ultrasound. The idea is the ultrasound is directed at the area of disease in order to destroy the tissue in that area.
