When should children have skin tags removed?
My three year old son was born with a prominent skin tag next to his eye. Should we get it removed? The doctors say it is cosmetic issue, so it is really our choice.

Children do not usually have skin tags. The child should be seen first to determine if what you are referring to as skin tags are actually that.

A three year old seems quite young to have a skin tag. I would ensure you see a board certified dermatologist or pediatric dermatologist for another opinion.
I agree it is a cosmetic issue, however, in the future, it could become a reason for school bulling that, depending on the child, could affect his self-esteem. Talk to a pediatric surgeon and get his opinion.

Your pediatrician was correct. These are cosmetic, but if it's bothering you or your child, they are simple to remove by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

I usually refer before kindergarten so he will not be picked on at school and the risk of anesthesia is low. If it does not bother him, you can wait longer
