Which treatment is better for Costochondritis, massage or dry needling?
Both massage and dry needling can help with costochondritis, but in different ways. Massage is great for relieving muscle tension and improving posture, which can reduce pressure on the chest wall. Dry needling targets deeper muscle knots trigger points and may help more if the pain feels deep or stubborn. Often, a combination of both works bestalong with lifestyle support like an antiinflammatory diet, stress reduction, and nutrients like omega3s and vitamin D to help the body heal from the inside out.
Do not get dry, needling or acupuncture in this area ever it could give you a pneumothorax!.
Using anti inflammatory medications and moist heat, gentle stretching, and breathing exercises will be the best treatment.
Massage to your intercostals (the muscles between your ribs) and pecs could help. A chiro can also help since it's inflammation of the rib joints.
Both done carefully will help.
I’m not sure the benefits of dry needling but as far as massage goes it could help with chronic pain. If it’s acute chronic pain though it might make it worse.
Neither has ANY proven benefit; dry needling is harmless as long as it doesn't break the skin.
