• Why are antibiotics risky for kids?

My son is 4 years old and the doctor prescribed antibiotics for him. My husband told me that they are bad for kids. Is that true?

Hello there! Antibiotics are completely safe for children. On the other hand, if your son has a bacterial infection that is not treated, it could be very dangerous. There are always risks and benefits to everything, but I would trust your doctor on this one!

Some infections needs antibiotics to cure them. Antibiotics get rid of your normal bacteria when you have a virus that antibiotics do not treat. You should ask your doctor is it safe to wait on antibiotics at this time. If not, I would give the antibiotics.
