• Why does the common cold always come with cough?

I'm 45, and my common colds always seem to come with a cough. I'm aware that colds usually affect the sinuses, but why does it also cause a cough?

Coughing as a symptom always associated with common cold because it’s viral disease and viruses affect lining of upper airways including bronchi.
