• Why does juvenile arthritis cause rashes?

My daughter was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis last year after experiencing swelling, joint pain, and stiffness. But last week, she woke up with a rash that looks very similar to a poison ivy rash (which she wasn't around). I took her to the doctor and he says that the rash was likely a result from the arthritis. Why does juvenile arthritis sometimes cause rashes? The rash was over her knuckles and arms.

It is very common for JRA to have intermittent red rashes esp over joints. This can occur with flareups and sometimes needs extra steroids or anti-inflammatory drugs. This is part of the symptoms of JRA.
