You should see a podiatrist and get an xray. usually it is caused by turf toe or sesamoid inflammation.

There are two small bones under the big toe Metatarsal. They are the sesamoids. It is very easy to inflame or break them. Have an x-ray done.

It could be a possible bone spur. I would have to take an x-ray to see exactly what was going on

If it is under the big toe, it could be the sesamoid bone (it's like your knee cap), and that can break and it is very difficult to heal, so want to see a doctor and get an X-ray to make sure nothing is broken.

Could be anything from bunion to sesamoiditis or fracture. Needs history and X-ray. See a doctor.

The most probable cause of your pain is a condition called sesamoiditis. It is a common condition I see in more active patient population. The big toe joint is supported by the tibial and fibular sesamoid that reside in flexor tendons that course the plantar aspect of the joint. Repetitive microtrauma to the sesamoids can cause inflammation along the tendon sheath and sometimes can cause swelling in the bone and even fractures in some cases. If your pain continues to persist I would seek a specialist to discuss your particular condition and treatment options. Good luck to you.

This could be caused by irritation of two round bones, called the sesamoids. This could also be pain under the joint due to excess pressure. I would recommend X-rays to evaluate condition and see a physician.

Hello. It could be sesamoiditis which is inflammation of a bone behind the great toe. Most times this is a cushioning issue. Wear well cushioned shoes. No barefoot at home.

Thank you for the question. There are many causes of the bone under the big toe hurting. You need to get professional evaluation with x-rays at the point of tenderness other than an accurate diagnosis can be made. Thank you for the question if there is any further question you have please do not hesitate to contact me.

This may be one of several bones and conditions that may be the cause. This should be evaluated by a podiatrist.

You may have tibial sesamoiditis. Don't walk barefoot, even in the shower. Change inserts in your shoes to give you more cushion. I would see a podiatrist to get X-rays and confirm your diagnosis.

It is difficult to discern the cause of your pain without an examination. You could have arthritic changes of your first metatarsophalangeal joint, you could have a functional issue, you could have tendinitis, or you could even have distal plantar fasciitis. You may have sesamoiditis. You may have a combination of issues. It would be my suggestion to get your problem evaluated by a specialist.

Under our big toes live two small pea sized bones called sesamoids. They can get injured and become inflamed and sometimes crack, causing pain and swelling. If the pain does not improve or worsens, even with rest, topical pain creams, or anti-inflammatory medications (if you can safely use them), see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

There can be several reasons for pain under the big toe. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon(podiatrist) to determine the cause and the appropriate treatment options

It could be something called Sesamoiditis. If it is still painful I would recommend having xrays and evaluation of the foot to recommend further treatment.
