I am a 27 year old female. I wonder if an ovulation test will show positive if pregnant?

No, the ovulation test when positive indicates ovulation within 12-36 hours. It enables the couple to time intercourse.

An ovulation test may be positive if you are pregnant. However it is better to check a pregnancy test if you think you are pregnant. The ovulation test checks for LH and the pregnancy test checks for HCG.

Usually an ovulation test will show a positive result when the LH hormone (which prompts ovulation) is elevated. A urine pregnancy test detects HCG (the hormone made by pregnancy tissue). HCG and LH are very similar biochemically, if levels are very high rarely there may be some cross reactivity. The best thing to do if you think you’re pregnant is check a pregnancy test.
