• Will an ovarian dermoid cyst grow back after removal?

I'm 40 years old, and I had a dermoid cyst on my left ovary that I had surgically removed. Is it possible for an ovarian dermoid cyst go grow back after removal?

Most of the time, it may recur usually in the contralateral or same ovary 3%-4 % of the time. Factors include young reproductive aged women < 30 yrs, size of the antecedent cyst. The recurrence also depends on the surgical mode of initial treatment, lowest in laparotomy, and highest with Laparoscopy.

Low likelihood, but would confirm the pathology with your doctor and make sure you do not require follow-up.

It would be highly unlikely for the cyst to recur after complete removal. You should do very well.
