• Would I need to have antibiotics after Mohs surgery?

I'm going to get Mohs surgery next week, and I'm just wondering about whether or not I would get antibiotics after it's done. My dermatologist told me that this surgery has a low risk for infections, usually. How often are antibiotics given after Mohs surgery?

It varies depending on surgeon preference. The guidelines state for most clean sites without risk factors no antibiotics are needed. Mohs and many closures are low risk for infection but depending on location or patient risk factors antibiotics may be necessary.

Antibiotics are generally not given. In some areas of the body that are high risk areas, antibiotics may be given.
