Though the connection between concussions and Alzheimer’s might appear to point in the direction of environmental factors contributing to the onset of the disease, the findings showed that those who already possess the genetic predisposition might have a higher chance of developing the disease. Ideally to assist the doctor in assessing the risk, a patient would need to go back at least two generations to give a very detailed picture of their own, including their family’s health history and “health facts”, like:
- Location and manner in which the family members grew up
- Daily habits such as diet and physical activity
- Any health conditions
