Ovarian Cancer Advocates Call for More Government Funding
Due to lack of funding, not much has changed
Just between the years of 2010 and 2014, Canada allocated more than $80 million in breast cancer research and $40 million in prostate cancer research. Ovarian cancer got the short end of the stick at only $16.9 million. With the monetary support, breast and prostate cancer research has progressed rapidly, improving both treatments and overall survival rates. But what about ovarian cancer? Unfortunately, not much as changed for ovarian cancer patients. Screening tests and treatment options have pretty much stayed the same - and the numbers aren't good.
