The Possible Relation Between Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
What is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common disorder in women of pre-menopausal age. It can be described as a hormonal imbalance that can lead to serious metabolic and cardiovascular conditions. In PCOS, numerous cysts in the ovaries grow gradually over time. Thankfully, these cysts are usually benign, or noncancerous. Of course, it doesn’t mean that women with PCOS shouldn’t regularly visit the gynecologist, as these cysts will eventually cause changes in hormone production which will ultimately affect the body in numerous ways.
