Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Carylann Hadjiyane, who serves patients in New York.

Seeing a variety of patients with gastrointestinal disorders, ranging from colon cancer to complex liver diseases, Dr. Hadjiyane is affiliated with NYU Langone Health. She practices at NYU Langone Gastrointestinal Associates of Long Island – Glen Cove & Lake Success   and NYU Langone Urology Associates – Massapequa.

They are expert endoscopists, performing diagnostic tests that allow them to view organs of the digestive system, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy.

As a female gastroenterologist, Dr. Hadjiyane has a special connection to female patients who feel more comfortable discussing their problems with another woman. She can often relate to their concerns in a different manner than her male counterparts. 

“I have always treated my patients as I would want my family members to be treated. I enjoy caring for my patients and listening to their problems, so that I can provide holistic care. In addition to standard endoscopy, colonoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy, I also perform Bravo pH monitoring for patients with atypical chest pain”, expressed the doctor.

Enjoying all aspects of the field, Dr. Hadjiyane’s practice is well established in the community and has access to the newest equipment and latest treatment modalities. It offers outpatient care in an office-based environment that is clean and friendly. Also, there is an endoscopy unit in both of the offices to provide patients with easy access to procedures.

Alongside her clinical role, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine.

With her father and grandfather both being physicians, they inspired Dr. Hadjiyane to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated with her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in 1986. Furthering her education, she went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital in 1989, and her fellowship in gastroenterology at Nassau University Medical Center in 1991. She chose the specialty of gastroenterology because it allows her to use both her intellectual experience and physical expertise to treat patients.

A Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), she is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, Dr. Hadjiyane is affiliated with NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, formally Winthrop Hospital.
