Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist M. Catherine Slusher, who serves patients in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Dr. Slusher is board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynecologists (OB-GYNS) and also offers continuous certification (Maintenance of Certification) to OB-GYNS in the United States and Canada. Their mission is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health. She currently practices as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist with Harrisonburg OBGYN Associates, who mission has always been to provide quality care utilizing the most current technologies available. Harrisonburg OBGYN has been serving women of the Shenandoah Valley for more than 40 years, offering obstetrical, gynecological, and laser therapy services. As a member of their staff, Dr. Slusher specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders affecting women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. She also works with expectant mothers throughout their pregnancies (including childbirth and the postpartum period). Furthermore, she serves as the Medical Director for Family Birth Place and Section Chair for OB/GYN at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Sentara is a 125-year-old not-for-profit system that operates more than 100 sites of care throughout Virginia and North Carolina, including 12 acute care hospitals: seven in Hampton Roads, one in Northern Virginia, two in the Blue Ridge region, one in southern Virginia and one in Northeast North Carolina. Additionally Dr. Slusher runs a Wellness Clinic, specializing in Obesity medications, with her new sidekick is Ruffie, a staffordshire terrier. Dr. Slusher received her medical degree in 1988 from Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, Virginia. Thereafter, she went on to complete her residency with Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Slusher has vast expertise in her field, with interests ranging from high-risk obstetrics, pediatric gynecology and incontinence to bone health and office-based surgery. She is an advocate for her patients and strives to ensure the best medical care possible. In her spare time, Dr. Slusher enjoys skiing, scuba diving, golfing, and spending time with her husband, son, two daughters, and granddog Roscoe.
