Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Daniel B. Aruch, who serves patients in Virginia.

Dr. Aruch is a practised hematologist-oncologist who has been with Virginia Oncology Associates since 2018. He sees patients at the offices in Virginia Beach and Elizabeth City, Virginia.

Virginia Oncology Associates is an oncology and hematology practice of physicians, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. With locations spanning the southeast region of Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina, the practice is able to extend services and treatments to patients, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecologic oncology, hematology, diagnostics, clinical research, stem cell transplantation, genetic counseling, and psychosocial oncology.

Originally from Williston Park, New York, Dr. Aruch graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received his medical degree with a Distinction in Research at Albany Medical College where he graduated Cum Laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After completing a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, he practiced as a hospitalist prior to completing his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where he served as chief fellow.

In order to advance his professional efforts, the doctor remains a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology.

Attributing his success to working hard and wanting to help people out, Dr. Aruch is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, whose mission is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.
