Dr. Kumar is an opthamologist who is currently serving patients at Kumar Eye Institute - a family based practice located in Louisville, Kentucky. The staff of professionals at Kumar Eye Institute include Dr. Kumar, his father - Dr. Sushil Kumar, as well as his sister - Dr. Ashima Kumar Gupta. The Institute offers a comprehensive center for eye care health.

Dr. Kumar is affiliated with numerous hospitals in Kentucky, including Jewish Hospital & St Mary’s HealthCare - among others.

Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2001. Thereafter, he went on to complete his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, followed by an internship in advanced cataract and glaucoma at the University of Utah - John A. Moran Eye Center.

Dr. Kumar is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). Founded in 1916, the ABO is an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States.

Dr. Kumar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO). The AAO is the world’s largest association of eye physicians and surgeons.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. With over 18 years of experience in ophthalmology, Dr. Kumar is an expert in the diseases, functions and anatomy of the eye. He specializes in glaucoma and pediatric ophthalmology.
